I learned to never click on pop ups because it will download things without me knowing and from now on I'm going to make my passwords more difficult.

Young Goodman Brown Questions

1. I think Hawthorne's purpose to write this story was to send the message to people that dreams are powerful things.

2. The name Faith might fit her personality, but in Goodman Brown's mind after the experience in the forest he doesn't have true faith in her.

3. I think the pink ribbons signify God.

4. It was a dream because in the passage it says that he woke up alone in the forest, so he must have fallen asleep and had a bad dream.

5. I think that the old man is the devil. It said his staff was like a snake so I assume that it symbolized evil.

6. The staff represented evil and I think the primary motivator was Brown's own conscience/mind.

7. If Brown never ventured into the forest then everything would have been normal and he would still trust Faith and the other townspeople.

Observations from Young Goodman Brown

1. The Pink ribbons and the name Faith both symbolize something.
2. The experience in the forest made a major impact on Goodman Brown.
3. The devil was in disguise as the old man.

Notes from Socratic Seminar

The purpose of arguing is to get the truth. People should have the right to their opinion as long as they don't force their opinion upon anyone else. Some people are one-minded and always think that they're right.

Vocabulary Quiz

I think that taking this class will burgeon our intelligence. This course and the way it is going to be taught complements my schedule. I'm not a contumacious type of person unless I strongly disagree with something so I shouldn't be much of a problem in this class. Most people wouldn't see me as a curmudgeon. I look forward to your didactic teaching style. I'll try not to look at any assignment as a bauble.

Assignment #1

The reason that I'm taking this course is because it is required. I am excited to be learning new things in this class, but I'm nervous about the challenges in the future. My goals for this class are to earn an A or B each semester and to always keep an open mind. Taking this course is going to give me more knowledge about the internet, different techniques of studying, and it will teach me to take different perspectives on things.
